Agreement on the establishment of a Sister City relationship
for the friendship and cooperation between
SEABROOK, TEXAS, U.S.A.
PUERTO AYORA, ISLA SANTA CRUZ
GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR
Whereas , the Sister City Program, administered by Sister Cities International®, was initiated by the President of the United States of America in 1956 to encourage greater friendship and understanding between the United States and other nations through direct personal contacts; And
Whereas , in order to foster those goals, the people of Seabrook, Texas, USA and Puerto Ayora, Isla Santa Cruz, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador in a gesture of friendship and goodwill, agree to collaborate for the mutual benefit of their communities by exploring educational, economic and cultural opportunities; And
Whereas , we agree to support and encourage opportunities for mutually beneficial practical exchanges in the fields of arts, business, culture, education, environmental protection and conservation, health and science; And
Whereas , we anticipate our relationship also will grow through cultural development, eco-tourism, student exchanges, and other important activities that will be beneficial to the life of our two communities; And
Whereas , this partnership will provide a deeper understanding of each others lives and traditions, while finding common elements that link our two communities. Both Seabrook and Puerto Ayora are ready for growth in many areas and can work to achieve our goals together.
Therefore , this Sister Cities agreement is signed in the City of Puerto Ayora, Isla Santa Cruz, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador on February 12th, 2002.
